In progress.
With this series, I explore healthcare practices outside of professional medicine. I talk about things like cooking, caregiving, healing trauma, and herbalism; practices and responsibilities that are typically relegated to women, especially diaspora women. In the first performance for this series at Bard College, I created a space for discussing these healthcare practices. Using calendula and turmeric as a base, I created medicinal mixtures based on individual's stories in my community and at the site. I performed this new work first as a visiting artist at the Difference in Media Project's Disturbance Lab.
